Chinese Guasha Therapy

Q. Tonight, I want to talk about your experiences with Mother Stone Therapy, also called Chinese Guasha. You claim to have such spectacular results with it, to such an extent, that you consider it your responsibility to share your experiences with everyone.

A. Being a MD for more than 30 years, I did not expect to find a therapy, which would be so suitable to become promoted as a "multi-functional" self and mutual help technique. Because it is cheap and applicable in innumerable situations, Mother Stone Therapy should become available to all.

Q. Could you tell us something about it?

A. Because this therapy has more dimensions: spiritual, psychological and medical, I will start with describing some of its backgrounds. It goes back to the sacred stones of prehistory. The most sacred ones were those, who fell down from the sky. These meteorites were considered to be part of the Mother's Womb. Hence, the deep reverence for them. The Stone in the Ka'aba is such a one. In the legend of the Grail (the Wolfram von Eschenbach version) the holiest of holiest is a Stone. The basalt coming out of volcano's - the belly of Mother Earth - is often considered sacred as well. The mystic Ruusbroec calls Jesus the "shining Stone".

Q. Sacred Stones automatically possessing healing qualities?

A. There are many kinds of stones, who are said to possess a great variety of healing potential.

Q. But isn't Mother Stone Therapy being done with one stone only?

A. That's right. A very down to earth link is the following. In prehistory, people treated pain, distortion, swelling and itching with a stone. They did so, by taking any stone they could get and started rubbing e.g. scraping the injury. This must have been quite effective, because its reputation was transferred to later era's. With the result, that nowadays, we possess a "Stone Age Therapy for Modern Man".

Q. Quite extraordinary indeed. But hardly to imagine, that such a primitive therapy could have any results whatsoever, with regard to today's complicated chronic diseases.

A. The Chinese have "re-discovered" this therapy. They use either a meteorite or jade. The latter is said to be of equal value to the former. However, it is not so much due to the properties of the stone, but to the technique, that so many results are being obtained.

Q. Could you tell us more about the technique?

A. Suppose, you have a "frozen shoulder". The therapist will first put oil on the spot, after which he or she starts to scrape the area with a (jade) stone. Depending on the situation, this is being done mildly to powerful. The result should be, that through the scraping, red spots appear IN (not ON) the skin. The deeper the red, the more "things are coming out". The result is accordingly. For a difficult disorder like a "frozen shoulder", often one treatment proves to be enough.

Q. What are the other indications to this therapy?

A. Some 400 different disorders can be treated, including various pain syndromes, chronic disorders of all kinds, RSI, immune-deficiency, allergies, depression, stress and burn-out.

Q. How can the effect be explained?

A.  Summarizing, Guasha is stimulating the immune system, detoxifies and de-acidifies, promotes the circulation, regulates functions and organs, removes blockages and pain, revitalizes and regenerates ("life-extension"), diminishes stress, fatigue and burn-out, improves e.g. cures indirectly countless (chronic) disorders and complaints, rebalances emotions, relaxes and promotes clarity of mind...everything through ONE simple treatment. It is "replacing" other methods like massage, connective tissue treatment, reflexology, periost massage, acupuncture, moxa, lymph drainage and immune therapy.*

Q. You also talked about spiritual and psychological effects. Could you elaborate?

A. In the course of time, my wife MeiMei, Guasha therapist and teacher from China and I, while treating "something medical", observed all kinds of benign "side-effects". For instance, emotional "flair up" symptoms, like weeping, insight in a long standing problem, depression, improvement of concentration and memory and the like. Spiritual effects, like clarity of mind, inner balance and even increase of compassion were rather common. Hence, we decided to extend our action range.

Q. Not everybody will be interested in this holistic approach.

A. That's true. That's why we are doing the Mother Stone Therapy for those who are open to a multi-dimensional "initiation therapy", in which we invoke the Great Mother, while people with medical problems are receiving a medical treatment, only.

Q. Could you report some spectacular cases?

A. This summer (2004), we have been working along the Camino de Compostela in Northern Spain. We worked there with a couple of friends, who received a short training as Guasha volunteers, treating pilgrims with all kinds of pain problems. I can honestly say, that I never did such a fulfilling work. Most shoulder, back, neck, hip, knee, calf and ankle problems vanished into thin air within 10-20 minutes. I have never seen so much amazement and disbelief in my life, like in the faces of those pilgrims.

Q. What would be your recommendations to the average citizen?

A. Start doing Guasha for yourself, your family, your friends and your colleagues. It can be applied as a energy-promoting treatment, as prevention and as a therapy for all kinds of disorders. You won't regret it!*
